The 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso (born 6 July 1935), is the traditional head of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism and has lived in exile in Dharamsala, India, since 1959. His teaching combines classical Gelug philosophical training with decades of dialogue with Western science, and he remains one of the most widely recognised religious figures in the world.
Now 91, he continues to give public teachings, but almost exclusively from his main temple in Dharamsala rather than through international tours, including a long-life ceremony in February 2026 and public teachings in March, April and October 2026. All teachings are free and available by live webcast.
