About the teacher

A quiet, direct path.

David Frawley (also known as Pandit Vamadeva Shastri) has written extensively on Vedic astrology, Ayurveda and Vedic ritual practice through the American Institute of Vedic Studies, positioning his work as a recovery and continuation of Vedic tradition for contemporary students. He received the Padma Bhushan, one of India's highest civilian honours, in 2015.

His current teaching runs mainly online through articles, webinars and courses, with the 2026 Bhishma Award among his recent recognitions; he keeps few or no in-person events. It is worth noting, for editorial transparency, that Wikipedia also describes him as a prominent Hindutva ideologue — a politically loaded characterisation worth being aware of alongside his Vedic scholarship.
