Dharma Talk: "The World and Us" with Henry Shukman
A Zen dharma talk on the relationship between self and world.
Zen · Zen · Kensho
British-born Zen teacher and former poet, founder of the Way meditation app, teaching a contemporary approach to kensho and awakening.
Henry Shukman worked as a poet and travel writer before training extensively in Zen, eventually receiving transmission and becoming known for teaching accessible, well-defined paths toward kensho (initial awakening experiences) — a topic often left vague in traditional Zen instruction. He founded the Way app to make structured meditation training more widely available.
He keeps an active 2026 schedule, including a teaching tour in Australia, a programme with Joan Halifax at Upaya, and a five-day retreat at Mount Madonna, California, in May 2026.
