American teacher, author and former filmmaker known for the Emotional Connection Process, a body-based practice for working with difficult feelings, teaching mainly through workshops at Esalen and Kripalu and one-on-one coaching.
Raphael Cushnir grew up near Los Angeles and, after an early academic path (UC Santa Barbara, Reed College, UCLA), spent a decade in Hollywood as a screenwriter, director and producer before a personal and professional crisis in 1996 redirected him toward emotional healing work. He went on to develop the Emotional Connection Process and has written several books on working with feelings and present-moment awareness.
He now teaches mainly as faculty at Esalen Institute, Kripalu Center and Omega Institute, leading workshops such as "Setting Your Heart on Fire," alongside individual coaching sessions offered by phone, Skype or Zoom on a sliding-scale basis; specific upcoming workshop dates should be checked directly on his site.
“To live in accord with love is to set your heart on fire. In the crucible of such an inferno all convention burns away.”Raphael Cushnir
