About the teacher

A quiet, direct path.

Richard Rohr, a Franciscan friar, founded the Center for Action and Contemplation (CAC) in Albuquerque to teach a contemplative Christianity that deliberately links inner practice with social action, drawing on the Franciscan tradition alongside broader interfaith contemplative sources. His Daily Meditations reach a very large ongoing readership.

In October 2022 he stepped down as Dean of Core Faculty and from the CAC board following a lymphoma diagnosis, becoming Core Faculty Emeritus and taking on no new teaching commitments. He continues to contribute to the Daily Meditations and occasional programming as his health allows, and published The Tears of Things in 2025.
