About the teacher
A quiet, direct path.
Lama Rod Owens completed traditional Kagyu training and holds the title of lama, while teaching in a distinctly contemporary register, addressing trauma, race, masculinity and rage directly through the lens of Buddhist practice — most visibly in his book Love and Rage. His teaching moves fluidly between formal meditation instruction and frank discussion of lived experience.
He keeps a full 2026 schedule including monthly daylong retreats in Atlanta, a weekly Medicine Buddha gathering, retreats at Kripalu, a week-long hybrid retreat at Wonderwell, and a talk in London on 6 October 2026.
