Insight Meditation · Insight Meditation
Psychologist and meditation teacher known for combining Buddhist practice with Western psychology; co-founder of the Insight Meditation Community of Washington.
Tara Brach trained in both clinical psychology and Insight Meditation, and built her teaching around what became her best-known concept, RAIN — a structured way of meeting difficult emotion with mindfulness and self-compassion rather than avoidance. Her book Radical Acceptance introduced this integration of Buddhist practice and Western psychotherapy to a wide general audience.
She teaches a weekly livestreamed class through the Insight Meditation Community of Washington, reaching a large ongoing podcast audience, and continues to lead retreats in the United States and Europe alongside the teacher-training programme she runs with Jack Kornfield.
