Vidyamala Burch lives with chronic pain following spinal injuries, and founded Breathworks to adapt mindfulness-based approaches specifically for people managing pain and illness, drawing on her own long practice within the Triratna Buddhist community. She was appointed OBE for services to health through mindfulness.
Breathworks continues to run its Community of Practice and training programmes through 2026, and she appeared in conversation with Sharon Salzberg on 23 March 2026 as a Breathworks fundraiser.
