About the teacher
AWARË
AWARË is a Portuguese instrumental duo. The name is read as Ancient Wisdom Availing Resonant Equilibrium, and it describes the aim rather than a tradition: they do not claim a lineage, they work with resonance.
Their music begins in silence and stillness, with intertwined harmonies and converged instruments building an atmosphere the listener is invited into as a participant rather than an audience. Rhythms wake the senses gradually, and the energy rises into something closer to a dance, ending in what they describe as a collective celebration.
The premise underneath it is simple enough to state and hard to do: that sound is a way of finding equilibrium together, and that this is available to anyone in the room.
