One World, One Heart: Amma's Address at UN Millennium World Peace Summit
Amma's address to the UN Millennium World Peace Summit of religious leaders.
Yoga & Tantra · Darshan
Indian spiritual leader known worldwide as 'the hugging saint', offering darshan to millions through her ashram and international tours.
Mata Amritanandamayi, known to her followers as Amma, became internationally known for offering darshan in the form of a physical embrace to millions of people over several decades, framing this simple gesture as her core spiritual teaching alongside humanitarian and environmental projects run through her organisation. Her approach emphasises devotion and direct human contact over doctrine or formal instruction.
Her international tours resumed in 2023 after a pandemic pause, including her first European tour since 2019 in late 2025, with a stop in the Netherlands. As of mid-2026 she remains largely at her Amritapuri ashram in India, offering daily livestreamed darshan, while senior disciples tour on her behalf across Europe and the United States.
